post Digiprana Sounds with guests CHRIS STERIO & TIM MILLS (October 15, 2008)

October started off quite well with a trip down to Charlotte to perform with UK DJ/Producers Chris Sterio and Sasha LeMonnier from Source of Gravity recordings. While Ms. LeMonnier was a guest on the show earlier this year, I’d yet to meet her and Chris in person. Not only did we finally get to meet, but we were also joined by Charlotte’s own Source DJ/Producers Sean McClellan, Chad McNeely and Tim Mills, with the six of us teaming up for a night of progressive and tech house at the newly opened Charlotte nightlife hotspot “KISS”.

Like Sasha, McClellan and McNeely had also been guests on the broadcast earlier this year, so it was only proper that this week’s turn on the decks feature DJs Tim Mills and Gravity label-head, Chris Sterio, whose taste for progressive house has come to define the SOG brand over the ten years it has been in existence.  Expect a mix of tech house, breaks and electro from yours truly for the first half of this week’s program, followed by a moody yet uplifting blend courtesy of Mills and Sterio–whose set graces the last half hour of the podcast.

Check out the playlist below and click on the SOG logo above to stream/download the show, or the Digiprana logo below to hook up to and/or subscribe to the podcast.

This summer, as has been the case for some time now, I was glad to welcome some class acts to the program including Reid Speed, Lee Pennington, Samer, JELO and many others. With all the heavy hitters on hand it had been a while since I spun a one-hour set on my own. With that in my mind this week I set out to put together a mix for the first hour of the broadcast to feature some of the best tunes I’ve heard in the past few weeks. Included is a bit of tech, minimal, electro and some vocals to bring it all full circle.

As always you can click on my pic above or the digi logo below to link up to the broadcast . . .

Back in August of 2006 when Digiprana records was only an idea for a record label, Lee Pennington arrived in New York City for the very first time with a handful of tunes recently produced in his UK studio. After hearing the tracks, it was agreed over some beers that Lee’s “The PT Project” would be the first release on Digiprana records.

Since then, Lee has scored a streak of successful remixes and original releases on Perc Traxx and Source of Gravity, has co-produced the most successful monthly in North Eastern England (riffraff), and is presently a resident DJ at Zoo Project in Ibiza, where he is also known to grace the decks at venues such as Orange Corner.

Lee’s most recent remix effort is featured on Matt Black’s “Deep Hypnosis” EP out now on Digiprana. The minimal tech sound of Lee’s remix will be familiar to those who have heard his early night sets at spots like Arena in Middlesbrough. On this week’s broadcast, Lee delivers one of those characteristic moody sets that set the tone for the wild riffraff nights he and biz partners Paul Bowen & Gow are legends for delivering.
